Corregidor Island is one of the famous historical place in the Philippines. Many foreign and local tourists visit the island every year. It is also known as Fort Mills and Isla ng Corregidor. |
a.k.a Sir Jims
(He's a professional photographer)
Woohooo! This was our ferry hehehe. We went at Corregidor via Sun Cruises.
ON BOARD
I think it's a factory. Super thanks to my zoom lens, I'm able to capture this.
Waves created by the ferry.
The Philippine Flag of course.
PORT OF CORREGIDOR ISLAND
Foreign tourists on their tourist bus.
Our very own tourist guide. He's really a nice and funny guy. I'm sure if he's your guide during the whole tour, you'll gonna learn lots of historical things from him. I'll give him an A+.
Gen. Douglas MacArthur's statue on the left side.
Caballo Island or Fort Hughes
Carabao Island or Fort Frank in a misty morning the Cavite mountains are quite visible.
El Fraile Island or Fort Drum
It's not really an island but a "Concrete Battleship". As you can see It's very foggy, and I can't clearly capture the Fort Drum.
MIDDLE PART OF CORREGIDOR
FREE STANDING STATUES
RELIEF STATUES
These statues tells the story behind great Filipino heroes. They sacrificed their lives for the country.
Nice cameo Shawn :)
WWII photos
A Japanese memorial
Wheeler Gun
Vandalism on a tree trunk. Fvckin tourists.
Mickey Mouse Money
MALINTA TUNNEL
Ohh a Golden Ticket? Just like the one in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Tada! The Entrance
The Light and Sound Show was very heart wrenching because of what happened during WWII. It feels like you're really in that time because of the musical effects, visual presentation and of course a bomb (joke it was only a firework thingy for special effects hahaha).
The Philippine Flag
TUNNELS
These tunnels were once used during World War II by the allied forces of American and Filipino soldiers.
American and Filipino troops.
Ohhh... I see the light, I mean exit LOL
SOUTH DOCK
We spent our lunch here at this very breathtaking place.
MIDDLESIDE BARRACKS RUINS
Cannons. I posted the photo above in a previous post as well.
Sir Jims told us the reason why that very huge chunk of stone's attached to the tree. It was because of the bombing on the island, the impact was so strong and the debris were flying everywhere. That's why the stone is there.
TOPSIDE PART OF CORREGIDOR
Okay I know, another bad angle shot. We were on the bus ok? Bear with me.
RUINS OF MILE-LONG BARRACKS
If you're following my posts, probably you're already aware of this structure's story. If not, just click here.
Scenic view on the right side of Pacific Memorial.
PACIFIC MEMORIAL
There are written stuff on the side walls.
ETERNAL FLAME OF FREEDOM
THE DOME
The Altar, look at our tour guide hahaha.
Our Tour guide told us about the altar and the light emitting story coming from this hole but I forgot already haha.
Very bad angle, haha maybe because it was too HOT that time. Seriously I'm so exhausted at that moment and I thought I'll gonna die from thirst. I was like, click... look at the photo, ok it's fine. Hahaha true story!
We got here a model huh? hehe nice Sir Jims.
Map of the Island
Some very old tools
Coins and Money
I dunno whose on the photo. I wonder?
The USA Flag
This is interesting right? An old newspaper back in World War II era.
A battleship wooohoo!
Bachelor Officers Quarters Ruins
I'm not sure if it's the Senior Officers Family Quarters or Quarters for Senior Officers Ruins. Maybe a different structure? I don't know.
SPANISH LIGHTHOUSE
Some displays on the museum, there are more of it but I didn't capture those other displays cause I'm too excited to go on top of the lighthouse hehehe.
Lastly, a breathtaking view on top of the Lighthouse.
After a long long time I'm able to do a post about this tour. I really want to come back in Corregidor Island and spend the night there.
I encourage you all to experience the awesome and historic place "Corregidor". You'll surely enjoy. This is my first travel post. Hope you like it :)
